hehehehe....

Alhamdulillah.... I finally got to eat Dhal and Roti Canai.
Roti Canai is from Kawan Brand ( my freezer is full so i didn't make my own roti canai)
The Dhal was pretty easy, this is not Dalca, this is Dhal.. ( owh i really miss my mom's Dalca...)

Basically all u need is  a cup of kacang Dal, you can put slightly more if u want, i put a little bit extra hehehe so the gravy will thicken up.
Bring it to boil in a pot with water. To tell you the truth, i dun have any measurement, i follow my heart hehehe...less than half of the pot kira okay lah.... ( boleh ke mcm tu? less than half.. hahaha 2/4 boleh laa...). dun forget to sprinkle some salt and sugar ( i only put salt, and i am not a salt person so my food is not that nice lah coz i only put a little.. hehehe)
while its cooking on the stove, prepare your veges. Potatoes, Carrots, eggplants, and yr bawang, halia, garlic and dry spices like curry leaves, cinamon quil, star anise and mustard seeds.

Peel the potato and carrot and cut it into how u like it to be, I do mine, My mom's style. ( for potatoes, quarter them up, and for carrots, cut them into flower like hehehe..betul i tak tipu...)
eggplants, thickly slice them or ikut lah how big u want them to be.
Slice yr Onions, ginger and garlic. ( as pemalas like me, i have garlic paste and also ginger paste.. bukan pemalas sebab apa, time constraint and also fresh ginger is so DAMN expensive !!! i rather buy the paste, what to do...)

Check on yr Dal, when its soft, put some tumeric powder and put in the potatoes, then boil again,
once the potato is soft, put in yr carrots and eggplant, by this time, don't be surprise to see yr kuah looks soo cair, its okay..yr kacang dhal and potatoes will thicken it up in the process, oh ya and the eggplant too.

when the pot is boiling, and yr eggplant is soft, heat up a small pan with some oil. when it is nicely heated, chuck in the garlic, ginger and curry leaves, stir them up, and add in yr sliced onions, and the rest of the dried spice.stir fry them till u get the aroma and the sliced onions are slightly soft and caramelized ( ewahhh... too much masterchef i guess hehehe)... by now, yr pot will already be boiling and the eggplant are now soft, pour the stir fried spices in the pot and stir them again and leave it for a few minutes. Dun worry if yr potatoes are smashed, out of shape or whatever, hehehe that's the fun bit and that's for flavoring.

There u go... Your own Dhal...

;)

Photos are in my iPhone, will upload later tgether with roti Canai kuah banjir hehehe ;)
